
The 38th annual Sweet Land of Liberty Parade hosted by the Junior Service League of LaGrange will be held on Monday, July 4th in Downtown LaGrange. This year's theme is "Peace, Love & Freedom" led by Grand Marshal, Greg Watts, the LaGrange Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a volunteer organization that builds, assembles, and delivers top-notch beds and bunkbeds to children who are sleeping on the floor.
PARTICIPATION IS FREE OF CHARGE! Children must have their parents’ signature to be in the parade. Please submit a completed registration form below.
TIME: The parade will begin promptly at 10:00 am. Participants will assemble in front of Sweetland Amphitheatre beginning at 9:00 am. Judging will begin at 9:30 am. Young people should be dropped off with their entry at the starting location. The only adults allowed in the parade line-up are registered parents or group leaders and designated parade marshals. This is for the safety of the participants.
ROUTE: From Sweetland Amphitheatre the parade will proceed down Church Street/W Lafayette Square, left onto Vernon Street, left onto E Lafayette Square/Ridley Avenue, and then return back to Sweetland Amphitheatre. No young people may be removed from the parade while it is in progress. Parents should promptly pick up their children at the conclusion of the parade at Sweetland Amphitheatre.
RESTRICTIONS: All decorations must be made by the participants themselves (may have adult guidance). Only patriotic costumes or uniforms (ex. Girl or Boy Scouts). All motorized vehicles, animals, and commercial advertising are prohibited. Helmets must be worn by children riding bicycles.
PRIZES: Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges based on who represents the theme best through decorations and costume.
